Perched atop Brushy Mountain in the foothills of the Blue Ridge near Wilkesboro, North Carolina, Big R Orchards is a family-owned working apple and peach orchard that doubles as one of the region’s most beautiful wedding venues. With a 6-acre lake, a golf green peninsula with mountain views, and a hand-crafted pavilion sided with exotic wood from New Zealand — this venue is unlike anything else in North Carolina.

- Grand Hall: Nearly 6,000 sq ft open-air covered pavilion with exotic wood, 2 huge chandeliers, Edison string lights, rock fireplace, motorized curtains
- Bridal Suite: 1,000+ sq ft with private bathroom, hair/makeup stations
- Kitchen: Full commercial caterer’s kitchen with separate entrance
- Amenities: Groom’s suite, climate-controlled rooms (2,400 sq ft), outdoor dance floor under fairy lights
- Seating: 200 pewter chiavari chairs, 200 white folding resin chairs
- Setting: Working orchard, 6-acre lake, mountain views
Transportation Considerations
Brushy Mountain Location
Big R Orchards sits on top of Brushy Mountain — meaning guests are driving up a mountain to a rural location. The views from the top are incredible, but the access roads are winding, hilly, and lack streetlights. For out-of-town guests, a shuttle is the difference between a stressful drive and an enjoyable experience.
Between Boone and Winston-Salem
Big R’s central location between Boone and Winston-Salem means guests may be scattered across a wide area. A coordinated shuttle from one or two hotel collection points simplifies logistics enormously.
